About

I started Plooms when I couldn’t find the fountain pen I wanted – a pen that was weighty and snug in my hand, but that was not the conventional black or burgundy. These days I am never short of a pen to write with, as Plooms now come in twelve delicious colours.

I have always loved stationery. As a little girl I played ‘post offices’ and loved autumn because, with it, came a new pencil case and new school exercise books. I will always remember opening that first pristine page, smoothing back the cover, ready to start writing.

It is perhaps no surprise that I am now a writer, with many notebooks on the go as I plan my novels. It is also easy to detect my love of writing in ink in the books that I write – my second novel The Book of Beginnings is set in a stationery shop, where the main character, Jo, sells fountain pens. Like Jo I believe, some words need to be written in ink.

The Girls

Whether it’s my daughters or my friends, ‘the girls’ frequently inspire me to put pen to paper. Thank you; Happy Birthday; or just Thinking of You.

Bright Botanicals

When I ran a flower shop in London we created fragrant, floral posies, which we delivered with hand-written messages.

Lost in the Library

As an author I am often found in libraries, The perfect place for plotting, planning and writing.
